White Oak ISD, in North East Texas, was one of the first to embrace the benefits of enabling students to publish on the web nearly a decade ago. They turned to CampusPress to manage the hosting, upgrades, and to provide support, so WOISD just needed to concentrate on the teaching and learning.
Since then, their network has grown to include teacher websites, student ePortfolios, school sites, and more recently, their main district site too.
WOISD chose a WordPress based platform because it is user friendly, flexible, and exposes students to web publishing skills that will be useful well beyond the classroom.

District Website

After already hosting teacher sites and student portfolios for years, WOISD moved their main district website to CampusPress in 2015.
By using one of the included themes to create the site, the district saved considerable money when compared to the proprietary school CMS platforms out there. Best of all, the site integrates completely with the existing network – providing one unified home on the web for all things White Oak ISD.

Student Portfolios

The students in WOISD have used the same blog from year to year as an ePortfolio. The blog travels with the student, becoming the defacto place to share projects, solicit feedback, and journal their learning.
Students can upload images of their work, embed videos and media from around the web, and publish their best writing all in one place.
The current Senior class have examples of class activities on their blogs dating back to their elementary school days!
